Forget the 5 a.m. club. A good morning routine isn't the longest one — it's the one that still works on the most chaotic Tuesday.
The Building Blocks (pick 3)
- Water before coffee (boring, but effective)
- 2-minute plan: look at your goals for the day — the single most important block of all
- Movement: 10 squats beat zero workout you never actually do
- No phone for the first 30 minutes — otherwise the feed devours your best thinking hours
- One small joy: good coffee, an open window, your favorite song
How to Build It
Start with ONE block, attach it to a fixed anchor, stick with it for two weeks — and only then expand. Chains grow; they aren't built all at once.
The Reality Rule
Define your emergency version: what's your routine when you've overslept? (Water + a 30-second glance at your plan.) A routine with an emergency mode never fully falls apart. For ADHD brains, there's an adapted version right here.
