What gets measured gets done. A habit tracker isn't a control tool — it's a reward machine: checking the box off is the kick itself.
The Methods
- Calendar + X: Seinfeld's classic. Simple, visible, analog.
- Habit tracker page: All your habits as a grid — pretty, but high-maintenance.
- App with repetition: Set it to "every day," check it off, watch your streak grow. The upside: it reminds you and automatically re-creates the task.
What to Track?
Only the action, never the outcome: "worked out yes/no," not "lost 2 kg." Results fluctuate for a thousand reasons — the action is the only lever you truly control.
The Rules
- Track a maximum of 3 habits at a time.
- Keep it binary (done/not done).
- Document gaps, don't dramatize them — here's how to deal with setbacks.
