ADHD Morning Routine: A Smooth Start Without 40 Decisions

TTobias Tröndle · Updated: 2026-03-16

The ADHD morning doesn't fall apart because of laziness — it falls apart because of 40 tiny decisions before your first coffee. The fix: get rid of the decisions.

The Principles

  1. Decide the night before: Clothes, breakfast, daily plan — all set before the morning even starts.
  2. One domino: Pin down the ONE first action after you get up (say, a glass of water). Everything else hangs off it — that's habit stacking.
  3. Visibility over memory: Gym bag by the door, meds next to the toothbrush. What you see is what actually happens.
  4. A buffer against time blindness: Set the alarm 20 minutes earlier than "strictly necessary" — realistic mornings are relaxed mornings.

Keep It Small

Three steps that always work beat ten perfect ones that die after four days. You'll find the general guide (without the ADHD-specific stuff) over at building a morning routine.

By the way: In ToDoClub you just toss tasks into the chat as a sentence — the AI figures out the due date, priority, and life area on its own. Try it for free at todoclub.org.
