Setting Priorities: High, Medium, Low — Done Right

TTobias Tröndle · Updated: 2026-02-18

When everything is priority A, nothing is a priority. Three honest levels beat any elaborate scoring system.

The Three-Level Logic

  • High: It's on fire today or tomorrow — or it pays off massively toward your goals.
  • Medium: Should happen this week.
  • Low: Nice to have. It's allowed to die.

The Everything-Is-Important Trap

Rule: At most 20% of your open tasks may be "high." If you have to bump one up, bump another down. It sounds brutal, but it's just honest — the Pareto principle says as much anyway: a few tasks deliver almost all the impact.

Priority × Due Date

Priority alone isn't enough: "Low, but due tomorrow" beats "High, someday." Good systems sort by both — like the Eisenhower Matrix, or automatically via AI like in ToDoClub.

By the way: In ToDoClub you just toss tasks into the chat as a sentence — the AI figures out the due date, priority, and life area on its own. Try it for free at todoclub.org.
