There is no best time management method — only the best method for your problem. Here are the classics, sorted by what they actually fix.
When you can't start
- Pomodoro: a 25-minute timer takes the decision away from you.
- Eat the Frog: the most unpleasant task first, while your head is fresh.
- Two-minute rule: anything under two minutes gets done immediately instead of managed.
When your day falls apart
- Timeboxing: important tasks get fixed slots in the calendar — meetings with yourself.
- Calendar vs. list: hard appointments in the calendar, flexible tasks on the list. Never mix.
- Energy management: plan by energy curve, not just by clock — deep work in the morning high, email in the afternoon dip.
When everything is too much
- Pareto (80/20): a fifth of your tasks create most of your impact. Find them, do them first.
- GTD: capture everything into one inbox, define next actions, review weekly.
FAQ
Do I have to pick one? No. Most pros combine: GTD for capturing, timeboxing for planning, Pomodoro for pushing through.
